Mediation as a process has contributed to this success. It has allowed clients positions of dispute to be teased out and cased differently. This in turn allows parties to view issues differently and move forward to a point of resolution that is acceptable to everyone.

I have considerable experience in all fields of agriculture: family issues, finance, and general life skills. I have mediated a wide range of issues from finance, matrimonial property, contract negotiations including house issues, father-son issues, share milking and business structure.

Experience carries considerable weight consulting through the debt restructuring (discounting) of the 80’s and 90’s, being exposed to tools and mechanisms that will be adapted to assist todays modern farmer.

In the past decade, my involvement with an industry that has experienced high levels of debt and some operators exiting business gives me a good understanding of what can be achieved.

The present farming debt levels put enormous pressure on people and understanding how people react or not is a skill that can only be learned through experience.

I have worked with the Rural Support Trust in Southland. This has given me skills to understand the pressures of modern farming and its effects on mental health and wellbeing.
