About my services

Erika Williams is a leading international arbitration practitioner with over a decade of experience acting in some of Australia’s largest disputes resolved through arbitration. Erika is experienced in commercial, construction and investment arbitration and has acted in arbitrations under the auspices of the Resolution Institute and various other arbitral institutions including ACICA, LCIA, ICC, SIAC, CIETAC, and JCAA. In addition to being a graded arbitrator with the Resolution Institute, Erika is on the arbitrator panels of leading arbitral institutions including the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and the Queensland Law Society. Erika is currently accepting arbitrator and tribunal secretary appointments. Erika also has a broad range of general commercial litigation experience, particularly in relation to cross-border disputes, from commencing proceedings and interlocutory actions through to full trials and appeals, including all the way to the High Court of Australia.

Experience and qualifications

Since establishing her independent practice, Erika has been engaged as: Presiding Arbitrator in an ICC Singapore arbitration in relation to a dispute regarding a solar farm between parties in two South Pacific Island territories valued at USD 5 million. The arbitration was seated in Sydney and the contract governed by the laws of one of the Pacific Island territories. Sole Arbitrator in an arbitration conducted under the SIAC Expedited Procedure with parties from Hong Kong and Singapore regarding a sale and purchase agreement. The arbitration was seated in Singapore and the contract was governed by the laws of Singapore. Sole Arbitrator in a Resolution Institute arbitration in relation to a dispute valued at circa AUD 3 million between a contractor and sub-contractor on a construction project. The arbitration is seated in Brisbane and the contract governed by the laws of Queensland. Sole Arbitrator in an ad hoc arbitration in relation to a dispute between a property purchaser and building inspector. The arbitration is seated in Brisbane and the contract governed by the laws of Queensland. Sole Arbitrator in a commercial dispute regarding the construction of an ocean vessel conducted under the Resolution Institute Arbitration Rules 2020. The arbitration was seated in Brisbane and the contract governed by the laws of Queensland. Final award delivered within four months of appointment. Consultant to SangDo Lawyers in relation to an arbitration agreement that was successfully enforced in the Queensland Court of Appeal decision of Lee v Lin & Anor [2022] QCA 140 Tribunal Secretary to sole arbitrator in a construction dispute for claims exceeding $120 million Arbitration Consultant to GRT Lawyers, acting as counsel defending a Mongolian State-Owned Entity in a jurisdictional challenge under the SIAC Rules (claim and counterclaim totalling USD 40 million) Tribunal Secretary to a panel of three referees in the unique Supreme Court of Queensland matter of Santos Limited v Fluor Australia Pty Ltd & Anor, the questions in which the Court has referred out to the referees. The matter involves claims exceeding $1.4 billion Counsel at Peter & Kim, a leading international arbitration firm based in Switzerland, South Korea, Australia and Singapore. As Counsel, Erika has advised a French entity in relation to a potential investor-state dispute with Singapore and assisted in successfully defeating an application for interim measures in a JCAA arbitration between Japanese and Korean entities Counsel for the Australian Centre for International Arbitration administering cases under the ACICA Arbitration Rule
