Restorative City Whanganui Trust (RCWT) works to foster, promote and strengthen restorative justice, restorative practices and restorative approaches across Whanganui and Aotearoa.

For more than 25 years, we have worked alongside individuals, whānau, organisations and communities to create opportunities for healing, accountability, connection and restoration. While restorative justice remains a core part of our work, we are also passionate about the wider application of restorative approaches through community education, workshops, mediation, coaching and relationship-based practice.

As a Restorative Justice Facilitator, you will facilitate Ministry of Justice referrals and work alongside victims, offenders, whānau and support people throughout the restorative justice process.

Key Points

  • Assessing referrals and determining suitability for restorative justice processes
  • Preparing participants for restorative justice conferences
  • Facilitating restorative justice conferences in accordance with Ministry of Justice standards
  • Writing reports for the Court
  • Maintaining accurate records and case notes
  • Working collaboratively with courts, lawyers, victim support agencies and community partners
  • Upholding professional standards, cultural safety and restorative values in all aspects of your work

Qualifications


  • Current Ministry of Justice Restorative Justice Standard and Family Violence Facilitator Accreditation
  • Experience facilitating restorative justice conferences
  • Strong report writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice
  • Full driver's licence and ability to travel locally
