Combining expertise to provide high quality education in the field of arbitration, The Professional Certificate in Arbitration results from a joint venture between the University of Adelaide Law School and the Resolution Institute.

Arbitration is a formal dispute resolution process in which two or more parties refer their dispute to an independent third person who makes a binding decision.

The blended learning delivery format offers flexible study options and is open to students across Australia.  Materials and tutorials are delivered online and workshops are held in short intensive face to face sessions.  This flexible learning option allows individuals to organise study around their work and life commitments. The content is highly practical and experiential, providing students with a solid understanding of arbitration law and practice and its role within the Australian legal system.

The course is designed for completion in one year. It is run over two university semesters.

  • Introduction to Arbitration runs in semester 1 from Late February 2024.
  • Advanced Arbitration runs in semester 2 from July to November 2024.

Semester 1 Introduction to Arbitration introduces the concepts, frameworks and practice of dispute resolution

Semester 2 Advanced Arbitration  provides a greater depth of the understanding, knowledge and skills needed to determine arbitration outcomes.
